Today in early 2005, we have a very large number of people on the internet today trying to build an online business without the proper tools and support to be successful. Many of these people have signed up into one or more of these schemes, only to find out later that the tools that were presented to them as THE sparkling and shiny state-of-the-art tools of the day turned out to be old, dull, ineffective and out of date. To make matters, worse the “sponsor” who was so congenial before money changed hands became very scarce at best or completely unavailable at worst as soon as the payment was made. No wonder so many internet opportunities have such a bad name. Well these are not businesses. They might be a hobby, but nothing more.

So how does someone who is looking to supplement their income or even switch completely and replace their current income to a work from home lifestyle find and then analyze a business opportunity that will put them in a position to make an informed and intelligent decision about which business to join? The answer here is Due Diligence and Analysis. One has to find a real business as opposed to the many so-called online businesses that are nothing more than the illusion of being a business. Hobbies. Something the kids enjoy.

There are a number of points which must be checked before making a decision to join any given business opportunity. If you are going to invest your money and more importantly your time in an online business you need to know beforehand that it really is a business and not just an internet game or a hobby. Below are what I call the Seven Golden Rules that I use when evaluating any online (or off-line) opportunity:

1. A Program must be a one-time pay only. No monthly or recurring payments of any kind. If you buy a franchise you have a firm price. You don’t have monthly payments to the owner, unless you financed this cost. Once you have bought it, it is yours. There may be monthly operating expenses but that is different from the initial acquisition cost. Also, the rights to the business must be able to be sold or passed to another person or entity.

2. Commissions must exceed 60%.  Internet transactions consist of intellectual and informational property.  These should have profit margins sufficient to pay a representative or distributor a 60% plus commission. If not, move on.  Commission payments must be made directly to the member not the company. Too many people have lost large sums of money that were paid into the company’s account and then just seemed to stay there, leaving the sales force high and dry. Every a paper boy gets to collect his subscription money and pay the money due the newspaper at the end of each month. Why should the internet be any different?  At the time of joining the business, the payment for the sale of product or services must be paid directly to the member who will then forward the Company’s portion to the Company, not the other way around.

3. Each Program must have one or more products in high demand that have a wide appeal to a significant segment of the general population.

4. The program’s products must be able to be delivered via the internet. No inventory requirement, physical handling or forwarding of packages or product.

5. The Program must have no sales quotas or sales targets imposed on its members.

6. The Program must be available worldwide, worthy of the part-time or full time internet marketer’s time, energy and resources.

7. The Program must have adequate training and tools available to help a member build their business.

Now after applying the above criteria to what is currently available on the internet we will find that only a few programs qualify. Those that do qualify, still have to pass one more important test. The cash flow and income test.

There are several programs that might meet the Seven Golden Rules above, but for many, their target market is at the low end of the internet spectrum so hundreds or thousands would have to be sold each month just to make ends meet. These are hobbies, not businesses. If you want a hobby, fine. But don’t get into a hobby and think that it will become a business. It won’t.

If you want a real business then you will have to make an investment and incur expenses at start-up. Later you will re-coup the start-up costs as you build up your business base. The question is, “Are there any companies online that can meet the Seven Golden Rule tests and if so how fast will the start-up costs be recovered?”

The answer is, “Yes, and fast, very fast.” for one certain online business that I have been working with since last November.

The company is Emerald Passport, Incorporated. This online business opportunity meets all of the tests and then some. It also has been maligned by people who have not done their homework. But this is often the case when new, out-of-the-box thinking happens to come along.  One can only feel sorry for this type of individual.  Their capacity to learn new things has ended. What a drab life they must be leading. Oh, well. The rest of us have other fish to fry. Many Emerald Passport people start making several thousand dollars in their first month or two. Others, much more than a few thousand. To see our main website just click here:  http://www.emeraldpassport.cc/10kaweek/

For the “newbie” the Emerald Passport’s automation is a godsend.  And its not too shabby for the Pro either. No need to spend thousands of dollars on websites, wasting hours and hours writing code. The websites are already there. Just plug in. Also, there are several training sites that are made available to every Distributor with a wealth of information on how to be successful in the Emerald Passport family. The entire sales and marketing system is automated with online movies, live and recorded conference calls. Anyone serious about having an online business and working from home will be pleased with Emerald Passport. I will post a detailed description of the automated systems that Emerald Passport has available for every Distributor in a few days.

I will be happy to answer any questions. Just give me a ring on 415-358-2406.
